Nothing Happens on Earth Unless People Allow It

Introduction

When God created the heavens and the Earth, He made separate realms with separate inhabitants, rulers of their own realms. When He formed Humanity, He decreed that the humans would rule on the Earth while spiritual beings like Himself would rule in the heavens. He made a divine law that keeps them separate from each other. Nothing happens on Earth unless people allow it.

Separate Realms, Separate Rulers

The Creator made the heavens and inhabited them with spirit beings, members of His divine council, also called sons of God. They were intended to rule the heavens and regulate hours and seasons and times for celebrations. They were not to interfere in human affairs. He even restrained Himself from acting on Earth without human permission.

Some of those sons of God transgressed the boundary between heaven and Earth. They saw that the daughters of men were lovely and they married them, producing the Nephilim, giants who ruled oppressively on the Earth. These also taught humans the use of cosmetics and technology. Eventually, the humans around them, including the Israelites, destroyed these giants. David killed the giant Goliath.

Rebellious Humans Allowed Spiritual Beings to Rule on Earth

The Creator planted a garden in the mountain country of Eden. In this place where Heaven overlapped with Earth,

  • Humans were provided with all they needed and wanted.
  • They were safe from wild animals and people.
  • They flourished in good health.
  • They had daily fellowship with the Creator.
  • They were naked – vulnerable to God and each other – without shame. They had no physical or moral flaws.

Enemy Spirit Wanted to Rule on Earth

The satan embodied a serpent and deceived the woman. He enticed her to eat of the fruit forbidden by the Creator. She agreed and her husband went along with her. They became the Enemy’s slaves, giving him rulership on the Earth.

Ever since, people have obeyed the urges and demands of spiritual beings and extended their reign in their lives and in the lives of the people around them. These spiritual beings became the idols that humans feared and obeyed instead of Yahweh, the Creator.

Yahweh Worked to Restore His Reign through Humans

Restrained as He was by His own decree, the Creator began to work on Earth through people. He promised Abraham that He would bring Eden’s benefits to him and to those allied with him. The patriarch obeyed Yahweh and began to receive the benefits. Yahweh promised Abraham a son and descendants too many to count. Abram believed the Lord, and he credited it to him as righteousness (Genesis 15:6). His belief allowed God to fulfill the promise.

Yahweh announced to the patriarch His intention to observe and judge the inhabitants of Sodom. Knowing their wickedness, deserving of destruction, Abraham bargained with God. He called the Judge of the world to have mercy if He found fifty, then forty, then down to ten righteous inhabitants in the city. Because Abraham stopped bargaining early, he allowed Yahweh to destroy the city.

David

The Israelites called for a king to drive out the gentiles oppressing them. Yahweh worked through Samuel to make Saul their king, and he did well, at first. When Saul turned bad, Yahweh sent Samuel to anoint a new king.

David overcame the Philistines and the other nations surrounding Israel. He made Jerusalem Yahweh’s capital on Earth. He spoke of his desire to build Yahweh a house better than the centuries- old Tabernacle. Yahweh said Solomon would build His house while Yahweh would build David’s house to reign forever.

Jesus

After Israel rebelled and went into exile, Yahweh promised an Anointed One to restore the David’s reign over Israel. He would overcome the Gentile nations oppressing them. He would also turn people’s hearts to obedience to Him and bring Eden back to the land.

Holy Spirit begat the Savior on Mary with her permission and with Joseph’s compliance. Jesus grew up and lived as a weak human, unable to do anything by Himself. He needed Holy Spirit power to do the things He did. He did what He saw the Father doing. He taught people how to live in the new Eden. He allowed the Judge of the world to use Him

  • to cover all of Humanity’s rebellion
  • to disarm the powers of darkness and return the Earth to human rulership
  • to remove all guilt and shame.

His obedience allowed Holy Spirit to bring Him back to life.

Ecclesia

King Jesus told His apostles to go into the whole world. They were to make followers of all peoples/ nations/ ethnoi. They were to teach all how to obey Him and find solutions to their problems.

Jesus told the apostles to wait for the empowering of Holy Spirit. From then on, God’s people did the work of restoring the nations to God’s reign over them. They taught new believers how to live together in love and acceptance, how to enjoy the benefits of Eden, how to spread the Good News of His Kingdom.

The King has worked through the ecclesias, assemblies of heaven’s citizens gathered to decide political issues. They call forth the reign of Jesus in regions and situations all over the Earth.

Successful ecclesias overcome the reign of the powers of darkness on Earth. Despite persecution and tribulations/ pressures, God’s people convince people to allow Jesus to reign in them. That is how Of the greatness of his government and peace there will be no end (Isaiah 9:7).

One day, Jesus will return to a greatly restored Earth. He will bring to fruition the new Earth.
