Growth into Unorthodox Thinking 1

Years Of Changing My Thinking

Sowing of God’s Word

Fifty-odd years ago, I became more than a minister’s son who went to church and sang in choirs. I took the opportunity to become a believer – a Christian, like my parents. As a young university student, the field of my heart and mind was prepared for the seeds of non-traditional teaching. Thus started fifty years of growth into unorthodox thinking.

Over the last few years, I have found my mind open to the Kingdom and the truth of prosperity. The circumstances of my life made my mental fields ready for major sowing.

New Wineskins Christian Fellowship

Fifty-odd years ago, I joined an anti-denominational, Charismatic student group. We wanted nothing to do with legalistic denominations. This started my unorthodox thinking.

With a vision to be a light in the growing darkness of the world. We followed Rapturist theology and the Shepherding movement. To live in Christian community, We bought and lived together in a small apartment building, the Ark. We lived together in single men’s and women’s households and families.

Shallow Foundations of Christianity

After a time, I left to pursue a career, got married, and raised a family in another non-denominational Christian church community. With my second marriage, I realized that the church clung to the foundational truths of Christianity rather than pursue the new things God was doing in the upper stories of His Temple. They focused on missions to get people saved and going to Heaven. There was little teaching on the gifts of the Spirit.

I have since learned that it is better to surrender to King Jesus instead of getting saved, that going to Heaven is not the ultimate goal for God’s people. What’s important is to fulfill one’s purpose on Earth and receive greater management positions in the New Earth. It’s important to receive the power and tools of Holy Spirit. There is power in praying in the Spirit. The “gifts” are tools to be used in Temple construction projects.

My Teachers

Since leaving that church, I have received my instruction from teachers on YouTube.

Myles Munroe taught me about God’s Kingdom vs. the Christian religion. I have learned that believers are colonies of Heaven citizens, God’s viceroys on Earth. Greg Simas and others taught me that what Jesus is building on Earth is His ecclesia instead of church, a governmental gathering of citizens rather than a religious institution.

From Lance Wallnau I learned about

  • the Seven Mountains of Societal Influence
  • the signet ring anointing on God’s people
  • our need to fight as one
  • and the prophetic patterns in the ancient writings that are being replayed today.

From Eric Metaxas I heard that God’s people must be political. (Jesus is King, after all. That is governmental, political.) We must protest the ungodly influences in the government mountain.

Gary Keesee taught me about Kingdom laws and the practices required to receive God’s provision of health, wealth, and wellbeing. From Brian Sanders and others I learned about the microchurch movement. I believe this is how God will have His people live their lives and serve the people around them. We will use wisdom from the Christian Community Development Association, based on Asset-Based Community Development, ecclesia-supported, but neighbor-led.

Questions

Can you be anti-Christian religion while a loyal subject of King Jesus?

Can you let go of church while seeking God’s place for you in His governing body of Heaven’s citizens?

Can you bear the thought of unkempt, smelly, or outrageously-behaving people seeking God’s love among His people?

Do you trust God to change their hearts and minds as He has changed yours?
