Introduction 

With the end of October, I have come to the end of the first month of the successful publication of my first Gathering of Misfits novels. That book depicts my vision for a Kingdom monastic community and its planting in a neighborhood rife with prostitution and gang dominance. With the coming of November, I wish to announce the coming of the Gathering of Misfits #2. 

Gathering of Misfits: Steve and Phoebe

This is the second novel of the series. It’s the story of the owner of the neighborhood tavern. He is the employer of the prostitutes and a closet pedophile. He falls in love with a seventeen- year-old singer with a nightingale voice and believes God will one day give her to him in marriage.

The context of this story is the Gathering’s move into the Ark apartment building and their beginning to meet in ecclesia gatherings in the tavern itself. They also struggle with the restrictions of the Asset- Based Community Development model they are using. They lead a debate to help their neighbors decide whether to rid the neighborhood of the prostitution and gang dominance.

The coming novel shares Steve’s back story of mutually desired incest and pedophilia. It includes his family’s building and growth of the tavern with prostitution. Steve finds acceptance by the members of the Gathering of Misfits, hears the promise of future marriage to Phoebe, and experiences reconciliation with God, his judgmental mother, and incestuous sister.

Young women in his employ begin to meet in a small ecclesia group with Gathering women. Each has a story of how she was roped into prostitution for the tavern. All are taught about God’s purpose for their lives and how to rule in their sex lives.

Steve begins meeting with other single men of the community. They study the Eden ideal for interacting with the women in their lives.

Finally, a major tragedy brings the tavern and prostitution to an end. This happens through the forward and back events within the gang that lead to major changes in their activities.
