I wept with gratitude yesterday as I brought to mind the biggest temporal blessing I am grateful for this year.

This Lonely One Placed in a Family

Psalms 133 and 68:6 have long been favorite Bible passages of mine. For years, I have wanted the second to be fulfilled for me.

God sets the lonely in families,

    he leads out the prisoners with singing…

Early last year, I even posted here an entry crying out for like- minded brothers in the Spirit with whom I might join in household. Last year, I roamed from church to church, looking for a small house gathering. I found one this year in the home of Jordon and Talon Baker. Jordon is a leader in the Global Catalytic Ministries, part of a world- wide Simple Church movement.

Home- based groups of people gather to worship God in Egypt, Iran, Somalia, as well as the U.S. One couple with thirty five years of work in Ethiopia has left thousands of groups to retire here in North Central Ohio. We are looking forward to hearing from them about the form of ecclesia they left in place.

Agreement on Biblical Perspective

I am especially pleased to find most of the members in agreement with me concerning the end of the world and the actual nature of the Kingdom of Heaven. With the next oldest one about half my age, Jordon likes to call me the “wise, old man” of the group. 

Chris gives me intellectual stimulation as we discuss our individual understandings of theology. He recently shared a video teaching he created about Why Bad Things Happen To Good People. It showed a sound biblical understanding of the evil people cause and the calamities that exist simply because humans brought rebellion against the Creator into the world.

Question

Are you lonely, looking for a spouse or other people with whom to build intimate relationships? Don’t look in a bar or night club. Seek out a small group of believers in King Jesus who meet to worship Him in someone’s home. You may not believe what they teach about the problems of the world. They will love you and bring Kingdom problem solving to bear on even the toughest problems of Life.
